Day 612: The 30th of March

Well, we are so close to the end now. Boy, do I need a month off.

I played some Switch on the train and in uni today, in the few moments I had free. I did have a minor headache for most of the day due to lack of food and water though, so my enjoyment was tempered slightly. Still, I did some shrines and it was all good fun.

Still far more satisfying to play in relaxation, without worrying about train times or tutorials. Plus I get to have my amazing headphones on, so I can actually hear what is going on. Just a beautiful experience. I played some just a little while ago, but I have turned it off subsequently so that I can get some sleep.

So tomorrow is the final half day before an April of peace. Not thrilled about getting up at 5 AM, but it is the last time so I can manage. Besides, got to prove that I can still work despite having a new toy to mess around with. I don’t know why I have to prove this, but apparently I do.

Anyway, I am going to go to bed and see if I can catch more sleep than I did last night. I was a bit stressed, so it took a little while to settle down. Have a good Friday everyone.

Day 611: The 29th of March

Today was great fun!

I did do some planning for my Policing formative, though in the end that is all I did towards it. I honestly don’t see the need to do it at this stage in the year and the uni isn’t going to do anything about it. It isn’t that important.

Instead, I played Zelda. With Emma. I let her make a new account on my Switch so that she could have a whirl on it. I get almost the same level of enjoyment out of watching others play as I do when I play myself, so I have no problem with her playing for as long as she desired.

I mean, that is the thing. Games are generally much more fun when you are around other people who enjoy them. I remember having far more fun on Just Cause 3 when Ben and I played it together, simply because we could have a laugh over it.

On the other hand, playing solo has its perks too. You can really get immersed in the experience, with headphones and nothing else to distract you. So it is enjoyable either way.

It is also just nice to show off my skills, solve puzzles together and experience new things at the same time as someone else. As someone who watches a lot of live reaction / commentary videos on YouTube, as well as Let’s Plays, that is just another way of getting to experience the joy of watching someone else discovering a cool thing in a game.

Emma and I played Zelda on the big downstairs TV, while Corwin was chilling out on the floor. He had a bit of a cold, so he wasn’t feeling great today, but he seemed to have a good time for a while, playing with his toys.

Anyway, I should head off to bed. Got to get up at 5 AM for the second to last time for a month. We are so close to the holidays now. Just got to power through the last couple of days. Have a good Thursday everyone.

Day 610: The 28th of March

Woooo! It arrived!

Well, my productivity was shot in the foot a little bit today. I still essentially got my tutorials done, but in regards to my formative, that ain’t going so well. Not really sure whether it is worth doing, really. The consensus appears to be that it isn’t really practical, but at the same time I’d feel really bad about not doing it.

I dunno, we shall have to see what tomorrow brings. If I can crack down and get some work done, that would be cool, but otherwise I won’t think of it as an urgently important thing. I mean, I am basically not going to get my feedback from it anyway, according to what we were previously told.

Been playing Legend of Zelda for a few hours today, though I have put my Switch back on its dock for now. Shall probably be going to sleep soon, feeling too tired to play it much more today. It’s also really hot in my room for some reason, despite having the windows open. Shall try to cool off.

Have a good Wednesday everyone!

Day 609: The 27th of March

A nice day was had.

Gotta love Mondays, eh? Trains weren’t terrible and, since the time has changed now, the late train runs while it is still light out. And that just makes you feel slightly better about everything.

Morning was good too. Got to get up late and mess about, have a bath and have lunch. Then I got a lift up to the station and a nice, empty train journey all the way to Guildford. The finest day of travelling in some time.

Still have a lot of work to get done, but not really feeling too stressed about it. Got two whole days to get cracking on that. I am also feeling pretty happy due to my Switch finally being dispatched. Who knows when it will turn up? The email said tomorrow, but that could be wishful thinking.

I guess I am also pretty cheery just with the knowledge that it is the last proper week of uni for some time. Just a little more to go before we can all get groovy for a little while. Got my blood sugar up with a delicious packet of Maltesers this evening too, for the first time in a while.

I wouldn’t be surprised if a sugar intake has impact on my mood. I remember when I used to live near uni I would come back to the house craving some apple juice or something sweet. And that was some of the more miserable times in my life. I don’t want to make any scientific statements, but it is certainly an intriguing fact.

Anyway, I am thinking about hitting the sack. Sleep time, then a fresh start tomorrow to get some work done. We shall definitely see how it goes. Hopefully my good mood keeps up until then, eh? Have a good one everyone.

Day 608: The 26th of March

Happy Mother’s Day everyone. God it has been a weird day.

It is always so weird, being out for practically the whole day. I was going to get some work done, but those plans were scuppered. Looks like I shall be working hard tomorrow evening to get my tutorials done.

At least the day was fairly nice. Emma cooked an amazingly delicious feast of Chinese food for us all, which I was very excited for. Turned out really well. I also got to try out the rice from the rice cooker I bought as a Christmas present.

Ben and I played some snooker in the evening, down at the Ashdown Park hotel. I am still pretty bad, though at least I hit the balls this time, so I count that as a marked improvement.

Anyway, I am going to order my train tickets and go to sleep. It has been a long day, and the clocks changed last night so my sleeping pattern was a little bit fucked. This week is going to be a chore. At least we only have a week left before I can relax for a little bit.

Have a good Monday everyone!

Day 606: The 24th of March

Just a short day of uni today. Thank God for that.

It was a pretty reasonable lecture, though the lecturer did spend 15 minutes on the last two slides of the powerpoint and thus caused me to miss the earlier train home. Still, I can’t be too mad, since I was still back home at around 5 PM. So not a bad trip.

Played with Corwin in the afternoon and evening, keeping him amused and whatnot. Watched some Only Connect with Ben and then had a nice long bath in the evening to relax.

I plan to lie down now and chill out with some YouTube. Should be a nice time. Tomorrow I imagine I’ll do a bit of work to try and help out my future self doing the formative over next week. We shall see.

But first, I wish you all a merry weekend. We’re almost at the end of March, gang! We can make it into glorious April together.

Day 605: The 23rd of March

It’s been a pretty long day.

I did get to hang out with a lot of nice people at uni today though, since we all had a huge gap between our two lectures. Started to relax and take it easy for a change. Still, staying in uni for 9 hours is painful regardless.

At least I had some nice stuff to open up when I got home. Still no dispatch of the main item I desire, which isn’t surprising. I’ll be more surprised if it comes before the end of next week. And that is probably for the best, considering that I have a formative to write and such.

This week is almost over. One more week before a month off. The longing knows no bounds. At least I only have to go in for a midday lecture tomorrow. That means waking up later than normal and actually spending more time travelling than learning. Still, better than having tutorials.

I’m going to go to bed now though, since I am pretty tired. Didn’t get nearly enough sleep last night. Have a good Friday everyone.

Day 604: The 22nd of March

Well, didn’t get quite as much done as I wanted to.

Woke up late and spent a significant period of time getting lunch and cleaning myself. When I eventually did sit down, I wrote up my tutorial work for Policing next week. That leaves three more tutorials and a formative to do.

Luckily, with the short amount of time that I have to be in on Friday, I can probably get a couple more tutorials done then. That will leave me in a good position to work on my formative over the weekend and next week. It still probably won’t be too great, but I have resigned myself to that now.

My sister and nephew are staying with us tonight, since Ben is away on work-related business. I do hope I don’t wake them up tomorrow morning when I am stumbling about at 5 AM. We can only hope, really.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day of nothingness. I am tempted to take in my laptop and get some work done. That would probably be a wise move, really. I’ll most likely take it in as a backup plan, in case the others don’t attempt to drag me off for a long journey into Guildford. Let’s just hope that the hard drive doesn’t pop out of its slot this time. That was a scary time.

Anyway, I should probably go to sleep. Tomorrow has to be done regardless, so I might as well do it with as much sleep as I can get. Enjoy Thursday everyone!

Day 603: The 21st of March

I probably should’ve worked today. Ah well, too late now.

I can’t remember the last time I have had this feeling of exhaustion after playing games late into the night and not worrying about uni work. It is quite the nostalgic feeling. I should probably not keep it up though, need to do something this week.

Been a strange time, all in all. My eyes feel heavy and I need a drink before I sleep. Other than that, not much to report.

Well, I’ll wish you all a good Wednesday. I’m sure mine shall be equally pleasant. Thursday shall make up for this though.
